Biography

In 2008 he started with a concert with the ZAGREB PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA. He was invited by FJODOR SCHALJAPIN FESTIVAL in KAZAN to conduct Rigoletto and several Gala concerts. In TOKYO he conducted concerts with Vincenzo La Scola and Giuseppe Sabbatini and a production of L’Elisir d’amore. In November 2008 he recorded three new G. PUCCINI CD albums with Fabio Armiliato, Daniela Dessi followed with a duet concert Omaggio G. Puccini with Daniela Dessi and Fabio Armiliato im TEATRO FILARMONICO in Verona. Further concert highlights were Messa da Requiem by G. Verdi in ROTTERDAM and DEN HAAG. For the CD-Label Denon he conducted the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra for new CD Omaggio a Puccini with Vincenzo La Scola.

In 2009 he will start the season as a pianist in Gala concert with Daniela Dessi at TEATRO ALLA SCALA in January, then he will conduct Messa da Requiem at the Concertgebouwin Amsterdam, and in February he will do a new production Eugen Onegin and Pique Dame, Carmen and Il Trovatore at FJODOR SCHALJAPIN FESTIVAL in KAZAN.

Italian conductor Marco Boemi studied pianoforte at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory and jurisprudence at the University La Sapienza in Rome where he graduated as a doctor of laws.

In 1990, he made his debut at the ROVERETO FESTIVAL with the Virtuosi di Santa Cecilia, which was recorded both on CD and on television. His opera debut followed shortly after this with La Traviata and Rigoletto with Renato Bruson at the SFERISTERIO DI MACERATA Festival.

In 1992, Boemi received his first invitation to the SUNTORY HALL TOKYO, in Japan. Ever since then, Boemi has been closely cooperating with the Hall: Carmen with Elena Zarimba in the title role and Neil Shicoff, L’Elisir d’Amore with Giuseppe Sabbatini and Eva Mei and several gala concerts with the TOKYO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA with Renato Bruson, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Vincenzo la Scola and Daniela Dessì are just some of the productions with TV- and CD-recording the conductor has made.

His highlights of the past years include concerts with the PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA in London, with Daniela Dessì and Fabio Armiliato during the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL in BRESCIA and Bergamo, with Vincenzo La Scola in BERLIN, in the RONACHER in Vienna with Neil Shicoff as well as in the BRAHMS HALL of the MUSIKVEREIN in Vienna with Stefania Bonfadelli and Giuseppe Sabbatini, a gala commemorating the millennium of the city of KAZAN in presence of president Vladimir Putin together with all presidents of the former Soviet republics. During the SCHALJAPIN FESTIVAL, Marco Boemi led the new production of Lucia di Lammermoor as well as shortly ago performances of Aida and Nabucco. He conducted Pavarotti and friends in 1998 in MODENA (gala with Luciano Pavarotti, Céline Dion, Spice Girls, Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Jon Bon Jovi…) with transmission on TV as well as CD and DVD recording for DECCA, Turandot in ST. MARGARETHEN, Otello in BRAUNSCHWEIG, Romeo et Juliette with Giuseppe Sabbatini and Stefania Bonfadelli, Falstaff with Renato Bruson and in addition the gala concert for Bruson’s 70th birthday in the SUNTORY HALL TOKYO, a Mario Lanza gala with Vincenzo La Scola in the TEATRO MASSIMO DI PALERMO, a Bellini gala in PARIS, concerts with the ORCHESTRA GIOVANILE DELLA SCALA, a gala in SPOLETO with Giuseppe Sabbatini, Norma Fantini and Leo Nucci, the opening night of the SPONTINI FESTIVAL with Gérard Depardieu and Giuseppe Sabbatini as well as the first performance outside Great Britain of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem. The concert tour with Sabbatini in JAPAN is also available on CD.

In June 2007, Marco Boemi conducted the seasons opening of the TEATRO DELL’OPERA DI ROMA in the CARACALLA THERMES with Vincenzo La Scola as well as the following additional concerts: in BASTIA with Giuseppe Sabbatini, in ABERDEEN with Nancy Gustafson and the Scottish Sinfonietta. In July he conducted the Italian Night with Vincenzo La Scola in BERLIN. During the FESTIVAL RIVA DEL GARDA as also in August La Cenerentola and the Closing gala together with the winners of the Zandonai contest and the Cherubini orchestra. In addition, he performed on the piano in a concert together with Giuseppe Sabbatini in La Coruña. During September and October he went on tours through the NETHERLANDS with Aida. Further he worked on new production of La Traviata in KAZAN and he closed the year 2007 with concert in OVIEDO with Daniela Dessi and Fabio Armiliato.
